A good man draws a circle around him, and in it he cares for his family, his wife and children. A great man draws a slightly larger circle including his brothers, sisters, relatives and his friends stand inside, and he protects them as he would his family…and then there are the few, the rare ones…some men, have a greater destiny and they draw a great circle that includes many…”

- Quote inspired from the Movie 10,000BC

If you think you are too small to do something, then you are. If you think you can do something impossible, then you can, either way, you are right.

So what stops most people from believing? Fear. Fear which we must overcome because it limits our scope of reality.

Harnessing the fear of failure

...but I know that she could have done it, had she been prepared for the unpleasantness, the sheer nastiness that would have been unleashed upon her if she had chosen to say:

“To hell with them. Let’s go!”

- quote from Felix Dennis (Self Made Entrepreneur)

Upon researching over the names of people who have managed to stamp their eternity firmly in the course of history by changing the world, from the more popular Gandhi, Einstein, Edison to the conquerors like Genghis Khan and Napoleon, there is a distinct correlating factor among them. That is courage, the courage to step forward and do something in spite of the seemingly impossible odds and the enormous power of the fail of failure.

This factor coincides with what many Self Made Entrepreneurs have in them. Guts and the ability to start things that are choke full of the fear of failure. It is no coincidence that the person whom I greatly respect, Richard Branson from Virgin ,built a billionaire dollar business empire starting from scratch and directed the revenue towards making the world a much better place. And the title of one of the books he wrote ? “Screw it, let’s do it!”

I am a firm believer that if anyone even dares bear the thought of having a chance to change the world and make it a better place, that person will have to have an entrepreneur mind and spirit. The person who is willing to swallow his self doubts and go ahead anyway, even if he is the only person running forward while thousands of others were turning back and telling him it’s not worth it. But how can they know? They haven’t reached the goal. Instead, listen to those who want you to go forward, though they might be few, learn from those who have already reached the goal.

And what is the goal this time ?

The Illusion of being Richer than You Needed to Be

It’s not an over exceedingly riches that we are seeking, if an entrepreneur wanted, he should be more than happy to live with a monthly passive income of US$10 to 20,000 every month, once you are there, your lifestyle difference between a millionaire and a billionaire wouldn’t be too much of a difference.

People stay millionaires because they keep their millions and not spend it all, minus the toys like an island, over the top cars and dinners, that people with a lot of spare money can have the choice to spend on, basically, at the root, most of us will still live the way we are comfortable with over the long term with $10 to 20k per month…and most of it wouldn’t need to be spent anyway.

Think of it this way, 50 cents of plain rice and 50 cents of vegetables can make you as full in the stomach as having $500 of lobsters or a few thousand dollars of premium seafood. How many people prefer spending thousands of dollars on each meal ? Even the richest man in the world at the moment of writing, billionaire Warren buffet, enjoys his Burgers and Coke diet. So what’s the point of making a lot of money anyway ? More than you will ever need for your desired lifestyle? Ask a hundred people and you might get a hundred different answers, but you are here reading this preferably because of one thing, you want to change the world.

The Ability to Get Problems that Need Solving, Solved

This is a quote from a movie

No matter how gifted you are,

remember, you alone cannot change the world.” - L

There are a few types of individuals who can have the ability to constantly solve problems that need solving, changing the world by solving bigger problems which helps more people, I would like to focus on two kinds.

The First Type of People who are able to Change the World

The first is in the class of Einstein, the genius who can work alone and produce great works, solve great problems at the back of his brain. If you are one of them, joy to you and I will be honoured to be in your presence. Many people would like to be a Intellectual Genius because there are so few born who are like that.

The Second Type of People who are able to Change the World

These are more common and where normal beings like us who are not natural geniuses stand the best chance of solving big problems. Who are these people? Take a breather and look at the list below.

(1) Thomas Edison

(2) Henry Ford

(3) Bill Gates

(4) Richard Branson

(5) Andrew Carnegie

(There is a whole list, but let’s just focus on 5 of them)

The THREE things Common among them

The first thing in common between these five people ? They have massive amounts of money, they are very rich people.

What about the next thing in common which is less obvious ? They became wealthy because of the massive numbers of people they have created value for. Most of us will remember Edison for his light bulbs, Henry Ford for his cars, Bill Gates for Windows, Richard Branson for his Virgin Airlines and Andrew Carnegie for his steel company. They made lives better for many people.

What is the least obvious common factor amongst the five people?

All of them used their wealth for philanthropy. To give back to the community. Some even have foundations that serve to help those in needy, also to improve people’s lives and also scholarships for people who are capable of intellectually challenging courses of education but have limited financial capability to do so.

The role model for this era of time, in my views, is Sir Richard Branson, for he has started the Virgin Earth Challenge, in an attempt to solve the root of the problem to Global Warming, for a person or organisation to come up with a way of scrubbing greenhouse gases out of the Earth’s atmosphere to avoid global warming

Save lives, protect the world and the money to make it possible.

Money, to some, is a measure of success. For others like me, it is a means to get things done.

The Choice to Become Who Do You Want To Be

There is a choice, to become an Entrepreneur who has gained enough wealth to gather many others to solve problems which matters or to be the solutions inventor who is smart enough to produce results that can solve problems.

So which one do you want to be ?

BUT WAIT!

Whoever set the rules that you only can be either, why can’t you be both ?

Was there anyone in history who has actually done it?

Thomas Edison is one and there’s another person whom I greatly respect. Someone like Leonardo da Vinci, a polymath, his name should be familiar to you, Benjamin Franklin. Franklin was a leading author and printer, satirist, political theorist, politician, scientist, inventor, civic activist, statesman and diplomat.

He was, a very wealthy man, a successful inventor, the man who flew a kite during a storm and had lightning struck the key and among many other things, he improved the lives of many people. He formed the first public lending library in America and invented many things…but what was most admirable, I thought , was that Franklin never patented his inventions; in his autobiography he wrote,

… as we enjoy great advantages from the inventions of others, we should be glad of an opportunity to serve others by any invention of ours; and this we should do freely and generously.”

Many times when I thought that I was doing too many things, I thought of Benjamin Franklin, he could get so much done in his life, why can’t any of us who wanted? When I thought of giving up being an Entrepreneur, I thought of Richard Branson, he could have given up so many times, he didn’t, why should us? Look at him now, he is able to help people on a massive scale because he has won the challenge against himself, isn’t that what many of us want but only dreamt of doing?

What is the one thing stopping us?

Some call it the four letter word, Fear.

Fear that Stops Us

How many times have we stopped just right before the open doors which leads to the path less travelled, over the distance is a single speck of light which you know holds the answers you need to know.

Fear is the little death, death by a thousand cuts”

goes the ancient Japanese saying.

- Felix Dennis

Fear Works in many Stages

Fear works in many stages, many turned back before they even begun because of the fear of starting out and stepping out of their normal lives, some begun the journey and turned back anyway because there were no rewards in between the journey to keep them going, some grew tired of the journey and went back knowing even though they were more than halfway there. And there are some who upon reaching the speck of light, turned back anyway because they are unsure of their ability to hold the success…if you have been there, you will know this feeling.

One of my most beloved friend once wrote this to me when I was searching for the answer in the path of an entrepreneur,

As I always do, I read all your words with great interest and wonder.
One thing you said did stand out
“it is so much easier to give up your dreams than to chase after it”.
For the public at large that is so true. But hon, you are an exceptional person - giving up is not something you would do.

Going it alone in the business world is not easy either but ALL the rewards and accomplishment are yours.
Good luck Eric.”

Thank you Cathy, that meant alot to me.

Fear must be overcome indeed.

How You Can Change The World

If you are young, penniless and inexperienced, then that would be ideal for you stand the highest chances of becoming an entrepreneur who can change the world. Having nothing is an advantage that many people who are older and far more experienced do not have, great fortunes have been amassed by many an entrepreneur because they have nothing to lose.

I hope by following what our websites and the correct role models, and systems, you would amass your riches fast enough to contribute to the good of our society. I would definitely encourage you to focus your efforts on solving the global warming problem we have as a primary priority.

Slightly Better Off and On The Way Up

In a term I first heard from Felix Dennis, there is a category called “Slightly better off and on the way up”.

This is the point at which many people vaguely wonder about starting their own business, either on their own or with a partner or two. They have enough experience to know how the companies they work for function. And they see a niche - as yet imperfectly filled. They have “an idea”.

Yet they hesitate. They fear losing what they have already achieved more than they desire to enrich themselves. Personally, I am on more than familiar terms with this syndrome. I meet it every day, because it affects (or afflicts) aa great many of the fine men and women who run my own companies. Perhaps a majority of them.

…the only two reasons such geniuses continue to work for me and put money into my pocket are that, on the positive side, they enjoy their work, and on the negative side, they fear losing what they have already gained - challenging work, congenial colleagues, a certain status and the promise of promotion and pay rises.

They know this as well as I do. But fear holds them back, with the exception of those rare individuals who are content with their lot.

- Felix Dennis

To you also, I hope that if you managed to break the barrier or fear and amass your riches somehow, I would definitely encourage you to focus your efforts on solving the global warming problem we have as a primary priority.

Hungry People

The third kind of people, who have already built up your empire to some success, big or small. Who are still hungry, who still want to achieve more in their lives and make it ever the more meaningful, do focus your efforts on solving this global problem we have at hand.

The end of this page is the beginning

Over here, we are looking to gather young and fearless people, experienced and know hows people, professional people and those who have made it together. My learned friend, you know that no matter how gifted, you alone cannot change the world. Even if the rare among us can do it alone, time is not on their side for the effects of Global Warming might be off the tipping point within the next few years.

What we can do right now are two things, firstly, get rich as an entrepreneur as fast as we can and focus the efforts of capable people together like a laser beam to provide an overall feasible solution to Global Warming. We do appreciate the efforts of people who try to slow down the effects by reducing the carbon content in the atmosphere but we still need to avoid the nearing disaster by solving the root of the problem even though it has slowed down.

Secondly, for those who are already capable of helping, do it now. Help reduce the burdens of those who want to help and who are able to help. Perhaps the scientist working in a lab on a new detergent formula has the potential to solve the problem, solve his problem of staying in that lab for detergents by providing the funds for him to work on this project that matters, if he needs a new lab, provide him one, if he alone can’t do it, bring more in.

For those who are keen on doing these projects but can’t begin because of financial difficulties, fund them, let them find a solution. Remember, we do not know where the solution might come from, will he be a farmer who happens to have an idea that works, will he be a world class scientist, we are not sure, but we know one thing…

Only when we start, can we know what can be.

Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it! Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.

- Goethe

The world needs someone to begin…be that someone…
